The point is that there are any number of things that allow some people to just outperform others and usually it’s because they really do have some quality, characteristic or skill that others just don’t have.  This allows them to build enormous organizations only a VERY small percentage of those people actually earn them the big money, and it’s normally people who happen to have the same outstanding skills.

After I studied this over many months watching so many people try like hell and not getting the results they desired…I asked myself this question; ”Where the heck does that leave an average guy like me??”  That brings us to the good news!

The good news is that there are people just like me; average people with average skills making a substantial living with Network Marketing, and so can you.

You don’t need the “gift of gab” or tons of money to buy your position and you don’t need to work 22.5 hours per day or to withstand an onslaught of rejection.  So what does the average person need to make a fortune in Network Marketing?

You need only two things:

1. A System that can be duplicated by anyone
2. Education as to how to properly deploy that system

The system can be either automated or not as long as the process takes the prospect through specific steps and brings them to a point where they can decide weather or not they are interested in seeing more.

A good automated system will walk the prospect through the following steps:

1. Attention:  I have found that the best way to catch attention is to reduce the flashiness of the presentation.  The best attention grabbing tool is a very well produced video.

2. Interest:  Maintain the prospects interest by providing something with which they can relate.  Claims of riches tend to alienate most qualified prospects who are not interested in the hype…they are interested in content.  Your system needs to provide strong content which allows the prospect feel that they know you a little.

3. Education:  The prospect should learned something new.  Some actual valuable information that makes them understand that you have a legitimate business opportunity.  Education regarding Network Marketing would be best because it can help you pre-qualify your prospect and eliminate that “pyramid” objection.

4. Desire:  By the end of the presentation, your prospect should want more information from you.  If your system gives away to much information, the prospect will have no reason to speak with you again.

This is where most people drop the ball, especially when using automated systems.  Most people think that their on-line system is going to do the recruiting for them.

I have seen many times when a marketer considers the flash presentation on their company website to be their entire automated prospecting system.  The problem with this is that the company website gives away the entire story and rarely leaves the prospect in a state of desire.  The prospect can make a final decision without ever having to get to know the marketer.  This puts the company, product, or compensation plan in the forefront of the prospect’s mind, instead of the exciting potential of the Network Marketing business itself.

A strong automated prospecting system is just that…a prospecting system, not a recruiting system. We can not exclude personal relationship building from the Network Marketing equation. Which brings us to the second requirement for success in Network Marketing…training.

Training is perhaps the most neglected part of our business.  Rule number one is that you should never ever lead with your company, your product or your compensation plan…the reason is very simple…NO ONE CARES!!! Here’s why…

When you lead with your business, your products, your opportunity or your comp plan, you are talking about what is important to YOU, not to the prospect.  They might listen to you out of courtesy or respect for you, and you might sign up a few people along the way, but your chances of building a solid business in the manner are slim because this approach is not “duplicateable” by most people.

In order for the prospecting process to be effective, you really must build a relationship with your prospect before you introduce your company.  This can be done using a combination of your automated system and personal follow-up.

Network Marketing success requires that you deploy a balance of properly designed automation, and training on how to develop a personal relationship with the prospect.

If the automated system is properly designed, and the training is effective in teaching the basics, then the average person can do exceptionally well in Network Marketing.

Many prospective Powerline100 business owners will inevitably ask the question, “How do you market your business to make money?”  Most of the time, my response will surprise them when I respond, “Every way I know how!”

Recently, I posted about how you can market your Powerline100 business using forums, which was a completely new thing for me until the past month.  Forum marketing has been very successful for many people, so I thought I would give it a shot.  You know what?  ”They” were right.  If you’ve never tried it either, it’s really easy and highly recommended.  On the right column of this blog, you’ll notice the “blogroll.”  There are at least 5 different forums listed there to get you started.

Here’s the thing:  People always ask me, “What works best?”  My reply, “Everything.”

Every marketing strategy works.  Yes, some work better than others but you never know what “those” things are until you experiment with trial and error.  The simplest marketing ideas can also make you big money.

I heard a simple marketing idea about 2 years ago and I decided to try it.  Just down the street from my house was a gas station that I stopped in regularly.  Because I had been a regular customer for over a year, I knew the owners pretty well.  I asked them, very simply, “I run a business from home.  Would you mind if I put my business advertisement below the register here — or maybe even outside above the gas pumps?”

I was willing to “rent” the space for a few bucks per month but they could have cared less and said I could tape anything I wanted on the door, below the register, or whatever.  They really didn’t care.

The result was almost exactly what I expected.  Those free signs at the gas station generated at least $100 per week in additional income.  AND…the flyers stayed there for over 6 months.

A free flyer at the gas station earned over $2,500.

It worked so well that every time I got gas (no matter where I was at), I left my business card in the pump for the next person that used the pump to find.

One time, when my son and I ordered dinner to be delivered, I noticed that the cardboard box they delivered it in was very nice and sturdy.  I figured the cost of those cardboard trays probably cost the restaurant a lot of money over the course of a month — and I figured that they probably delivered to 50 – 60 homes per day — and that every home they delivered to was a perfect prospect for my business because #1) they could afford to eat there  and #2) they were probably having food delivered because they were too busy to cook for their family.

A PERFECT PROSPECT!

So, I called the restaurant owner and offered to sponsor his cardboard boxes for 4 cents each.

He was delighted.

The way I looked at it was simple.  If I were willing to invest 20 cents per click on Google Adwords, why not cut that cost 250% for the targeted offline traffic!

It worked.  I was the only sponsor on the cardboard boxes for 4 months — up until other entrepreneurs got the same idea and started competing for it and drove the price higher than I wanted to spend.

Anyway…

Where has internet marketing gone wrong?  Why do so many people frown upon the industry?  Yes, it’s growing, but not as fast as it could nor shining as bright as it can against the so called “traditional business.”  Otherwise known as “WASTE YOUR LIFE AWAY.”

Network Marketing has the power to change lives.

It seems that there needs to be a paradigm shift in industry culture for a massive number of people to ever to make a living off it and change the way business is done in the free world.

This paradigm shift needs to be from the culture of “recruit everybody you can to your last breath!” to the product itsself.

In other words, marketers of any company need to focus less on recruiting and bugging their friends till they join or commit suicide to the real movement of product into the hands of consumers out side of the network marketing industry.

I’m talking about retailing. Now before you blow me off to continue your efforts at building a downline, listen to this

ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS INDUSTRY WHO MAKE A TON OF MONEY, OR WHO ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THAT POINT, REALIZES THE POWER OF “PRE-SELLING” WITH ‘RETAIL.’

And why it competes the network marketing picture.

*The reasons are simple.  The first thing is that retail is the fastest way to create your first income.  The downline takes time to build, but you can be making retail profits in a matter of days.  Especially if you have an interesting and unique product that people want.

*If people under you start making money quickly, they’re more likely to stay with you.  Most people will drop like flies fromm your team if they don’t make money in their first month.  Sad but true.  So work with the newbie in your downline to get them in profit in the first month.

*Retailing is the “real world challenge.”   If your product can’t stand up to people who couldn’t care less about network marketing at that point in their life, then chances are, the product exist to make the money plan legal and that won’t carry the company fare into the future.

*You will make much more money per 100 people in a retail savvy downline then a recruit anyone downline because of all the external consumption going on.  Not just internal.

*Retailing is like long term sponsoring.  Sooner or later, someone who retails off you will come to a point in their life where change must occur and they’ll realize how much your product has helped them and may decide to join in your business instead of getting another dead end job.  Another way to look at this.  You’re getting paid to constantly remind these people of your business.

These people who join you down the road will be the strongest people in your downline because they have developed a love for the product and maybe a close relationship with you.

*And last, downlines that were built buy recruiting everybody around is like a house of cards.  It can collapse at any time.  The people in the group feel no sense of direction nor meaning and quit.  Whereas if you have a downline that is very product and retail driven, it will be a much more sturdy team and will carry you fare into the future and in the end, can make you a fortune.

What I’m saying, is that retailing really is the best way to build a strong downline and incredible income in the future and a good income right NOW!

Yes, retailing is so important to not only your personal success but the industries’ success.  You wonder why people out side of Network marketing frown at the thing?  They see a bunch of people bugging a bunch of other people to join in something without much mention of the product backing it.

People need to see retail in this industry.  ”The products”  Not just people chasing after other people.

They need to see all the great stuff you have on a web page or newspaper ad or you giving them a sample without being hassled to join something that they don’t really care about at that point in their lives.

At first, your downline will grow a little slower.  The reason is that you’re building product driven people and a strong foundation.  Not a bunch of people who know nothing but how to chase down others and brow beat them into joining.

However at the end of the day, you’ll have all those retail costumers looking for change and will come join you.

After you have done it all right, your downline will grow faster then most can only dream about.  Before you know it, your downline will grow beyond the borders of many nations and many cultures and you will be their leader.  All from your home.  If that’s not amazing?  I don’t know what is.  Do it right, right now and reap the rewards later and make some good money in between.

If you want to take your business to the next level you’d better get out there and show the product and produce great value.  If your company does not have a good retail site for you to duplicate or one that has a page on it begging the visitors to join the program then make your own (or outsource it).

Get on the engines and start looking into services that will help you.  And unlike internet marketing of yesteryear, the Internet puts an ever growing audience in front of you that is so easy to reach and for you to show your product or products to.  Not sly talk them into joining a business.

I love this industry and hope this article has brought it one step closer to what many see as an essential paradigm shift in how things are done.

Infinity Downline Review

Because of the newness of the opportunity, one common question I am often asked by prospects is, “How is Powerline 100 any different that Infinity Downline?”

In fact, I saw this posted on the Dream Team Money Forum this morning:

“What makes this different from Infinity Downline?  I’m new to this kind of programs but it won’t get out of my mind and the promises it gives.  How come many are lured to Infinity Downline and many are imitating its compensation plan?  This makes no difference I think.  Both will surely bring the money.”

This is a common question so I will answer it here.

First.  Powerline 100 did not copy the compensation plan of Infinity Downline.  Both use a direct-sales, modified 2-up compensation plan.  The 2-up has been in network marketing for decades.  It is NOT MLM and has proven to be the most successful and lucrative comp plan ever designed for both instant gratification and long-term residual income.  Several “big ticket” companies have also used it in the past including Liberty League, Life Path Unlimited, and the new Avant program — each of which can cost upwards of $25,000 to get started.

Those of us involved with Powerline 100 will highly recommend their Live Online Training held 2 times each week.  It truly is an awesome education.  And if you think about it, it’s one of the most important subjects you can learn in today’s virtual economy.

There are a gazillion reasons why everyone should consider owning their own home business and recession-proof their income in a time of global uncertainty.

But this post isn’t about marketing online or even learning new skills.

It’s about something so overlooked by most marketers online today that’s it’s left some PRIME real estate left open for cherry picking.

OFFLINE ADVERTISING

If you really want to write your own paycheck with Powerline 100, especially if you think “I’m not as technical as those young punks” then really consider advertising other than the internet.

Have you ever read the classified sections of the newspaper and come across an MLM distributor selling Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, or Pampered Chef products?

I’ve seen a lot of ads in the paper lately for “fun parties” that sell adult novelties.  Have you seen them too?

Now consider this:  Why do all those people place all those ads in the newspaper?

BECAUSE THEY WORK!

A lot of people balk at the idea placing an ad on the internet.  It makes no sense because it’s really, really easy.

But if the thought makes you uncomfortable, then don’t do it.

Use the newspaper instead!

And you don’t have to stop there.  You can visit VistaPrint and get free business cards, flyers, magnets, brochures, and all kinds of great stuff for really cheap.  You can customize them in any way you chose.  You’re only limited by your imagination and the work you’re willing to put into your business to get the results you desire.

Here’s the process:

Find a local newspaper that gets decent circulation and readership and look in the classifieds to see if you spot any home business owner running ads there.  Pick one out that you like — and use it as a template for what you would like YOUR ad to say.

Call the newspaper classified editor, or even ask to speak with a sales rep.  Ask about pricing, how long it will take your ad to hit the newsstands, and how you can run your own ad right away.

RUN YOUR AD FOR AT LEAST 4 WEEKS.  In print advertising, repetition is the key.  And you want your ad to be seen for at least a full month.  Sometimes people have to see it multiple times before they will respond.

Use an 800 number in your ad, instead of your home phone number.  You don’t want your phone ringing at 2 a.m. and you don’t want stalkers.  800 numbers are easy to get and really cheap.  One of the best you can use is Grasshopper Virtual phones.

Record a 2-minute message that people will hear when they call you.   If you have no idea what to say, my good friend Ken Cedar has a great script you can use here.

When they leave a voicemail, simply call them back.  Ask them for their email address.  After a brief 5 minute (or less) conversation, send them an email with your Powerline 100 website.

FOLLOW UP!

After allowing them about 30 minutes to go through the the information on the site and watch the videos, CALL THEM BACK!

A good method that I have had a lot of success with is to ask them, “On a scale of 1 to 10, what do you think about Powerline 100?”

If they are a 5 or below, just hang up.  There’s no use selling to skeptic.  Don’t take it personal.  Just dismiss them and hang up.  You’ll have plenty more leads coming that are ready to get started right away.

If they are a 6, 7, or 8 talk with them a bit more and invite your sponsor to have a 3-way conversation with them.  A 3-way conversation is one of the BEST techniques you can use to make more money online.  Not only are you allowing someone to answer your prospects questions for you but you’re also introducing a very powerful psychological principle called “The Law Of Social Proof.”

A 3-way conversation gives your prospect solid evidence that there are other people in the world using the Powerline 100 System to make money from home, too.  They have greater trust in you and they won’t feel like they’re getting scammed.  It’s great.  Try it.

If your prospect is a 9 or 10 have the confidence to “close the sale” right on the spot.  Congratulate them and be the first to welcome them to the team.  Wait on the phone while they get signed up.

On the positive side, thousands of new people discover network marketing all the time.  They have always wanted to start their own business and are attracted by the huge income potential of affiliate or network marketing.  Or they need a part-time source of income.  Or, perhaps they’ve been caught up in the huge, never-ending layoffs and corporate downsizing that seem to be a permanent part of the new information-driven economy.  They see network marketing as a way to escape the Rat Race forever!

Whatever the reason, they are entering this industry in droves.  And that is good news.

On the negative side, however, most of these people flounder around for months, or even years, like a fish out of water, and never really discover how to make network marketing work for themselves. They buy into too much of the hype and half-truths that seem to proliferate in affiliate advertising, expecting a large income in just a few months without much work or investment.

Perhaps that explains why so many newcomers believe that all they have to do to be successful is just send out a bunch of spammy emails and the money will come rolling in!

I’ve spent a lot of time and effort showing the newcomers in my downline the kind of work that is necessary for success. But all too often, these newcomers pay little attention to it.  They’ve seen all the ads telling them that they don’t have to do any work, that a certain program practically builds itself, or their upline will be giving them massive amounts of spillover.

They don’t seem to understand that this is a business, not a chain letter game.  And all too often, this is partly our fault.

So our network marketing newcomer may run out and send out a few over-hyped, anonymous emails to a cheap list and then wait for the money to roll in.

When nothing happens, our unhappy newbie then decides “the program doesn’t work.” (How many times have you received an network marketing mailing with the words “This one really works” in the subject line?  I get them all the time).

That starts our newcomer on a frustrating journey from one program to another.  They may join 5 or 6 all at once on the theory that at least one must work!  They may sign up under a sponsor that promotes the “program of the month,” and jump into everything new that comes out.  Never does it enter their mind that “programs” neither work nor don’t work!

What does or does not work is their personal success system.  A good network marketer can earn a huge income in even the worst of programs, with the poorest compensation plans. But the best program in the world is not going to work for someone who doesn’t understand how to be a successful network marketer and businessperson!

How many prospects have you talked to who tell you that their best friend “lost his shirt” in one of those “MLM pyramid scams?”

Contrary to popular belief, it takes training and education and investment to become a successful network marketer. No doctor was born with the knowledge of how to practice medicine. Nor was any successful network marketer born with the knowledge of successful recruiting and downline support.

Network marketing requires knowledge of effective marketing techniques, salesmanship, and basic business skills. If you are doing it online, it also requires computer and Internet skills, too.

On top of that, it requires the ability to work with people, the ability to follow a plan, discipline, and ongoing investment.

Fortunately, with the proper training, none of this is very difficult to learn.  We hear a lot about “duplication” in this industry.  And that is really all duplication is:  learning effective techniques, using them, and teaching your downline to do exactly the same thing.

As professionals, it is essential that we pass that along to the downline we are building.  I am tired of seeing so many newcomers pass through the revolving door.  And I’m tired of hearing people refer to our business as a “pyramid scam.”

Network marketing is a wonderful business. Almost anyone can learn to do it effectively and profitably if they are taught and if they have the desire.

It offers average people the means to a large income without a large initial investment.  (But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t require investment).  And it offers us the personal freedom and time to pursue other goals in life, unlike most corporate jobs.

This is the real message we should be sharing with prospects, not the hype that abounds online.  We may sponsor a few less people.  But I suspect that we won’t be sponsoring so many people that are in and out of the revolving door giving our business a bad name.

Duh — how many online entrepreneurs do take that approach and only kind of market their business, as if they only sort of want to build it?

Our local realtor goes on to state that she will “spend the advertising dollars necessary to sell your home…”

Are you, as an entrepreneur, willing to spend the advertising dollars necessary to build your business?

What does the homeowner want to accomplish?  He wants to sell the home quickly, easily, and for the most money possible!

What does your customer want?  A customer wants a product or service that is convenient, easy to use, and worth what he paid for it.

What does your potential downline distributor want?  The distributor wants a high-quality business that can be easily and economically promoted and at the same time, have the potential to make the most money possible!

Now, do you think that my local realtor is just kind of trying to sell real estate?  No, you’d better believe that she is trying very hard to please the customer.  Bottom line:  if she pleases the customer, sells the property, and has produced a good relationship with her customer, she will receive referral business and — make more money!

How many other businesses does my local realtor promote?  Answer: none.

Couldn’t you just imagine her working her real estate business fulltime, and then deciding that she also wants to sell insurance?  No, she has focused on doing the best she can with real estate and now even has her broker’s license. Instead of diversifying into another kind of business in order to increase her income, she now has agents under her who help her increase her income.

What do we frequently see happen with internet entrepreneurs, and especially those involved in multi-level marketing (MLM)?  They join a program that they would sort of like to succeed with, so they kind of market it.

Success requires more dedication than “sort of” and “kind of” will bring, the person turns to another program and halfheartedly works it, and so on.  Its no wonder that most people do not find success with their internet marketing.

So, what should you, as an entrepreneur, do or not do?

Let’s look at a very important do NOT.  Assuming that you have taken the time to select a worthwhile business, and not a money game or lottery, stay with that business.  Most successful marketers recommend that you give a new business at least a year of serious effort before adding on anything new.

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO.

1. Learn as much about a business model before you join it.  For example, if you are considering a network marketing business, you should become familiar with the kind of compensation plan it has.
2. Learn about the company.  What is the product line?  Can you be sold on the products or service?  How long has the company been in business?
3. What kind of help will be available to you to help you build your business?  This is very important.
4. After you join, take massive action to build your business.  Be willing to advertise, learn all you can about your business, and teach what you know to others who join with you.

While those tips do not guarantee your success, they will help you increase your odds for success.
